Note: Ratings are 0 to 5 *'s. I consider the first six (MIRC, Yahoo, Onelist, Planet Out, Gay.com and Classifieds 2000) to be the most useful. Many of the Gay Teen Personals are good as well.

IRC (Internet Relay Chat) is a Shareware service which you can download from MIRC. One you download it, there are numerous servers which you can log into. Many of them hve chatrooms for gayteens. Yahoo has a number of useful resources for meeting people. They have gay personal ads, gay teen chat rooms, profiles and clubs

Yahoo chat is easy. If you already have an account with yahoo (it's free and anonymous), all that you have to do is scoll down and click on the "Start Chatting" button. If you don't have a yahoo account, just follow the simple instructions to get one. Once you begin chatting, click on "change room" located in the "tools" section in the lower-left corner. Then click on "Teen" which is a subdirrectory of "Cultures and Communities". Then click on "User rooms", the scroll down until you see "HOT BI/GAY GUYS ONLY" - or something like that. This is the gay teen chat room that I use, however, I am sure that there are more. Feel free to look around.

Along with Yahoo Chat, Yahoo also offers personal adds. Simply follow the dirrections at the site - It is fairly self-explainitory. The youngest age that you are allowed to post at is 18, so if you are younger, you will have to say that you are 18, and tell people individually when they respond.

This is not a typical way to find people. What you can do here is search for people. One method that I have tried is searching for the word "gay" within a certain age group. It's not the most efficiant way to look, but it may be worth a try.

This is a pretty recent addition to yahoo. To find clubs for gay teens, click on LGB (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual) under the "Cultures and Communities" directory. From there, click on either "Teenagers" or "youth". Chances are, you'll find people here. As I check now, there are 297 clubs for (gay) "teenagers" and 44 for (gay) "youth". I recommend that you look under teenagers and click on "By location". See if you can find one in your area. I am a member of the "Texas Gay Teens 2" club which has 441 members. Anyway, this is a great place to explore. I am also the founder of two yahoo clubs. Feel free to visit and/or join them:

Egroups is a site with email lists. This is by far the largest of these "email communities", with many topics. There are dozens of gay teen communities. Click here to view my list of Egroups communities of interest to gay teens.

Gay.com is the most extensive gay chat service I have ever seen. There are like six chat rooms for Dallas alone. While most of the guys are older, there are some teens that chat there, and there is a youth section as well. Definetly check it out.

Planet Out and Gay.com are fierce rivals. While Gay.com is oriented more towards chat, the strength of Planet Out is its personal ads. They have the largest number of gay personal ads I've ever seen. Not only is the quantity high, but the quality is excellent. The personal ads are very extensive, and easy to search. Also, no age limit =)

Another place to look for personal adds is at Classifieds 2000. It is similar to Yahoo Personals . To get to the personals, click on the "Personals and Friends" directory from the menu. The minimum age is 18, so if you say that you are under 18, they will not let you post your ad. However, a lot of people say that they are 18, then in the ad say that they are 16 or 17 or something. I recommend that you take a look at it.

Elight is a gay teen e-magazine. The primary purpose of the magazine isn't personals, but they have them - a good number of them. Look for the link on the left side of the page where all the links are. Also put your real age - this is specifially for gay teens, so they allow all ages to participate. It's definitely worth a look.

Youth! Electronic Mail Lists: Be Yourself is a gay youth moderated email list which you can subscribe to. There are three age groups: 13-17, 17-21, 21-25. It's worth a look.

Gay Teen PenPal Conection is similar to the last list. This is another gay youth moderated email list which you can subscribe to. It is designed for gay teens (13-19).

Youth Resource is an excellent site. It has chat rooms, a list of high schools with a Gay-Straight Alliance, a list of Gay youth (offline) support centers across the country, as well as a message board.

Altavista Clubs are pretty new. This isn't the best place, but do a search under gay or teen. I'm not in any clubs there - but you can fill out a public profile - i did that.

Lycos Clubs has a more extensive selection. I am on two gay teen clubs there: Gayteens and Queer Youth Club. They also have instant messaging software that you can use. It's much less popular than AOL Instant Messenger or Yahoo Messenger, yet someone may find it useful. This site is worth a shot.
